Moving to Facebook

I want to thank everyone that has supported me on my blog over the years but I think it has come time to move my blog over on to Facebook as I find it much easier. I just don't have the time to continue to update everything sadly and this blog is now being neglected.

So, if you enjoy my work and what to keep updated as to what I have been up to and currently making then please head over to Facebook and give my page a like. This will keep you informed as to when I post something, do a free give away and give information when I have a sales piece or commission slot up for grabs.

My FB page is here - On The Bit Studio

I'll leave you with the current piece I have on my work desk...... :)

New Eventing Saddle

I told myself that 2016 was going to be a more productive year for my work, while others are setting the normal new year targets of getting fit and losing weight (could do with doing that too!) I'm sat at my work desk determined to get the back log of orders I have shifted! This has so far been going very well! However, after my last completed set I took a little time out to create a new saddle. For a while now I have been wanting to have a few new designs so this is a step in that direction....

It has a lower cantle and a slightly different shape to my normal saddles, I'm still not 100% sure its exactly how I want it but it passed the 'I want to keep it' test I do so its a very good start indeed. I do plan to do more over this year in the hope to building a range that is keeping up with today's ever changing real world equestrian disciplines and to build on my techniques...there is always room for improvement. :)

Unfortunately this saddle was doomed not to go in to my performance saddlery collection as I don't plan to do much showing this year so it has gone up for offers until Saturday on MHSP, its listing is - HERE  I may be persuaded to make a bridle for it BUT it would be at extra cost and it would have to be simple, no Hackamore's etc.

Hunt/Jump Set....

Just a quick post to share the Hunt/Jump set I have just finished today for Claire. This set wasn't made for Snowman but he does look smart in it and he is trying his best to model it.

Unfortunately the light here wasn't great so the pics are quite dark, the leather is actually a little bit light than that but not much. So far a very productive 2016.....on to the next order!

Sunday, 17 January 2016

So, in a recent post I mentioned that I chose to go with 'Studio' as I also now do more that just create model saddlery. Well, I thought I would share a couple of pics of some jumps I created last year. The first one was for myself for this years live showing. I wanted something girly so I went with pink and hearts.....minus the glitter I don't think it comes much more girly than that! With this in mind I created my Heart jump, I did have to rein myself in though sadly as it would have been all to easy to go OTT, mind you I could always jazz it up later on I suppose! lol. Now I have to create a few pots and plan who will be the first to jump it!

The second jump was created for a friend, she loves her Cocker Spaniels so I wanted to create something especially for her. Something different so here it is...Spaniels on the wings! One thing I love about show jumps is that you can let your imagination run wild, it doesn't have to have been seen before and as long as you stick within the jump rules you can design what you like. Who knows, it might even be reversed and created from miniature and in to the real thing!

One good thing about an Oxer is you can chose different ways to use it, this one changed very well and should be very versatile. That is one thing I always try to create, something with plenty of versatility.

All the jump cups are hand made and the tutorial is over on the right hand side in the pages on here if you fancy making some yourself. These ones were just left unpainted :)

Fresh Start

So, after my last post I have been extremely busy! Tack is currently rolling off my work desk and I'm feeling very productive which is great. My plan is to complete as many sets as I can over the next few months as I have quite a few that should have gone out quite some time ago! Eek! So far, so good.

I have decided to keep this blog up and running but I will be changing its look to match my website. I'll also continue to try and post when I can with what I'm up to and completed sets etc.

My first completed set for 2016 is a Dressage Set for Sjoerd. I always think models look so different in saddlery and Sjoerd is no exception to this rule. I can't wait to see him out and about with his new owner over this season's showing. Some pic's, enjoy! :)

Important News....

First of all a belated Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you all had a lovely christmas and new year :)

I have some news which is going to mean a fresh start for me, this sadly means an end to CK Tiny Tack. Please don't worry, I'm not disappearing. I shall be starting 2016 a new with a completely new name and branding. For a very long time now I have wanted to change my name but it was never the right time to do so. Now with a fresh new year ahead it seems right.

CK originally stood for myself and friend but we haven't worked together for years so it no longer has any relevance. I would have just dropped it but sadly 'Tiny Tack' alone has been used before and is actually a Shetland pony real saddlery shop so it didn't feel right, also others have since used very very similar names to mine which I want to break away from and save any confusion.

As of the 1st January 2016 I will be using 'On The Bit' Studio. I have used 'Studio' as over the years what I create has changed, I no longer just make saddlery. If you read my blog you will already know that I paint and customise models as well. Ok, albeit they are for myself but it is something I do so it seemed more fitting than saddlery alone. I'm currently working on setting up a new website, this will take some time as its a time muncher to do but I hope the end result will be worth it. It will eventually include a shop which I plan to offer accessories for direct sale in from time to time, this may also include bridles and even saddles.

For everyone I'm dealing with now, you need not worry, things will continue as normal and I'm still working on your tack. :)

With regards to this blog, I'm still in 2 minds whether to continue with it? I may change it over but it wouldn't be updated much. Sadly all pages on here will be disappearing to but not to worry, new ones will be on my website instead. When 'On The Bit' is all up and running I will add a link.

This feels like a new start for me as things have been stagnant recently. I have really appreciated all the support everyone has offered me over the years, I hope I continue to create little works of art for you all to enjoy and maybe own for yourselves. Thank you to you all! Your amazing!
